Barb Wells, a mother of two, was recently diagnosed with her second bout of breast cancer. After a long trip to Houston, she found Dr. Timothy Pluard in her own backyard. She is receiving an experimental treatment at the Saint Luke's Koontz Center for Advanced Breast Cancer. She has high hopes that the drug will work and is pleased she can receive the treatment closer to home so she can spend time with her family.

The Koontz Center for Advanced Breast Cancer has a singular goal: improving the outcomes and quality of life for women with advanced (metastatic) breast cancer. We believe in more than just treating cancer—our team is dedicated to caring for the whole woman.

Our dual approach to care includes personalized treatments utilizing advanced genomics and immunotherapy. The Koontz Center is the only program in the region to offer this type of comprehensive care to women with advanced breast cancer. While receiving the latest leading-edge cancer treatment from our experienced oncologists, women will also benefit from services such as emotional support and support groups, exercise physiology, massage, and yoga, nutrition planning, palliative care and spiritual counseling.
