Lavender top (EDTA) or ACD tube, sterile plastic conical tube, two confluent T-25 flasks for fetal testing, or LabCorp buccal swab kit
Specimen Type:

Whole blood
Submission of maternal blood is required for fetal testing.

Preferred Volume:
7 mL EDTA or ACD, 10 mL amniotic fluid, 20 mg CVS, or LabCorp buccal swab kit (min. 2 buccal swabs)
Minimum Volume:
3 mL EDTA or ACD, 5 mL amniotic fluid, 10 mg CVS, or LabCorp buccal swab kit (min. 2 buccal swabs)

Stability:

Okay either room temperature or refrigerated.

Unacceptable Condition:

Specimens that are frozen, hemolyzed, are in the improper container, only one buccal swab received, or wet buccal swabs will be rejected.
