Container Type:
Lavender top (EDTA) or ACD tube, sterile plastic conical tube or two confluent T-25 flasks for fetal testing
Specimen Type:
1. Whole blood, amniotic fluid or CVS
2. Submission of maternal blood is required for fetal testing.
Preferred Volume:
7 mL EDTA or ACD whole blood, 10 mL amniotic fluid or 20 mg CVS
Minimum Volume:
3 mL EDTA or ACD whole blood, 5 mL amniotic fluid or 10 mg CVS
Store and Transport:
Room temperature
Unacceptable Condition:
Specimens that are frozen, hemolyzed or submitted in an improper container will be rejected.
