Collection Procedure:

1. The specimen should be placed on wet ice immediately after collection and kept refrigerated until centrifugation.
2. Centrifuge the specimen within 15 minutes of collection.
3. Separate the plasma, place into a plastic vial and send the specimen on wet ice.
4. Freeze the plasma if the specimen cannot be delivered immediately to the laboratory.

Store and Transport:
Refrigerate plasma if delivered within 2 hours, freeze if transport will take more than 2 hours. Frozen sample is good up to 24 hours.
Stability:

Frozen plasma - 24 hours
Plasma on ice - up to 2 hours
Green top on ice - 15 minutes
