THIS TEST IS AVAILABLE ONLY FOR PATIENTS THAT GET APPROVAL FROM THE STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT.
The provider must contact the state lab. The state lab will provide information about specimen requirements and paperwork for the provider to fill out if approved.
Container Type:
Acute sample - lavender top (EDTA) tube; Convalescent sample - red gel tube
Specimen Type:
Acute sample: whole blood
Convalescent sample: serum
Preferred Volume:
4 - 6 mL whole blood or 2 - 5 mL serum
Minimum Volume:
1 mL for whole blood or 0.5 mL for serum
Collection Procedure:
For serum sample, centrifuge tube, remove serum and place into a plastic transfer tube with screw cap measuring no more than 5 cm tall and approximately 13 mm in diameter (e.g., 1.8 mL cryotube or 2.0 mL microtube).
Store and Transport:
Refrigerate - Send via state courier. Freeze ice packs to wrap around specimen to keep it cold during transport.
