Specimen Type:
Sputum, preferably early AM collection in clean leak-proof container. Minimum volume is 1 mL. Multiple specimens are not required. Specimens containing visible food particles are not acceptable for testing.
Store and Transport:
≤ 35 °C for no more than 72 hours, refrigerated at 2 - 8 °C for up to 7 days. Unrefrigerated specimens older than 3 days, or refrigerated specimens older than 7 days, are not acceptable for testing.
