About Alan P. Wimmer
Alan Wimmer, M.D., is board certified in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He has a particular interest and expertise in atrial fibrillation and is a regional leader in the management of this condition.
Dr. Wimmer is the Medical Director for Arrhythmia Services for Saint Luke's Cardiovascular Consultants and Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine. He is part of the Ben D. McCallister Clinical Scholars Program and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on atrial fibrillation and other topics in electrophysiology.
He received his medical degree from Duke University, was trained in internal medicine at Wilford Hall US Air Force Medical Center and completed cardiovascular diseases and clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowships at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Dr. Wimmer enjoys solving heart-rhythm problems for his patients and teaching his skills to other cardiologists.
