About Laura M. Schmidt

Laura Schmidt, MD, is a board-certified cardiologist with Saint Luke’s Cardiovascular Consultants and on staff at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Clinical interests include general cardiology, congenital heart disease, heart conditions in pregnancy, peripheral vascular disease and women’s cardiovascular health.  In addition to her clinical interests, Dr. Schmidt is also an Assistant Clinical Professor in Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and Co-Director of Saint Luke’s Heart Conditions in Pregnancy Program.

Dr. Schmidt received her MD degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, and completed her Internal Medicine, Pediatric residency and Adult Cardiology Fellowship at the Krannert Institute of Cardiology at Indiana University, Indianapolis, Indiana.

              My doctor was absolutely great! I have high anxiety and past doctor's office trauma and she completely got rid of my fears within the minute she walked in! She explained how my heart is doing so I could understand it, and even knew my previous doctor! She was awesome and made me feel completely comfortable in a situation that has been scary for me in the past. She listened and explained very well. Thank you!!
