About Valerie J. Rader

Valerie Rader, MD is a board-certified cardiologist at Saint Luke's Cardiovascular Consultants. Her clinical interests include women's heart disease, heart disease in pregnancy and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, including pre-eclampsia. Her clinical research interests include the effects of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy on cardiovascular outcomes and heart disease in pregnancy.
Since starting with St. Luke's in 2011, she has been a Docent for the year 1 and 2 medical students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. She enjoys working with medical trainees and was chosen as Outstanding Year 1 and 2 Docent in 2022 and received a Resident Teaching Award from the Department of Internal Medicine in 2020.
Dr. Rader grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated summa cum laude from medical school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, completed internal medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic and cardiology fellowship training at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her board certifications include Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Echocardiography.
