When Debbie O’Neal was diagnosed with heart failure at 75, she feared her life was ending. She was the same age that her mother had been when she died of heart disease.

Erica Stone started having seizures when she was just 3 years old. Through her roles as Miss Missouri and teacher, she developed a passion for educating children and adults on epilepsy to help lessen the stigma.

What began as a middle-of-the-night trip to the bathroom turned into a nightmare—and then a miracle—for 83-year-old Chillicothe resident Shirley Eskew. After getting out of bed, Shirley slipped and fell. “I just hit the concrete hard,” she remembers. Things got blurry after that, but she did manage to call for help and get to the emergency room at Hedrick Medical Center.
