When adults lose bone density, a condition commonly referred to as osteopenia, it can be contributed to aging or complications from other medical conditions. In either case, it may be indicative of an increased risk of other associated low-bone density conditions, or even an increased vulnerability to fractures. Saint Luke's uses bone density scans to help monitor overall bone density and manage potential breaks and other conditions associated with lower bone density.

DaTscan™ provides detailed images of dopamine activity within the brain, which helps us differentiate between various Parkinsonian syndromes as well as between Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor—diseases that often share similar symptoms.
