Recently published studies have found new effects of semaglutide, including reduced risk of heart conditions and the potential for a reduced risk of cardiovascular death. 

BBC News talked to Dr. Mikhail Kosiborod, cardiologist and vice president of research at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute who has published several studies on the medications, about what the research reveals.
