Iola Register: How can I protect my children from COVID?

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Allen County and across the state and country, health care experts urge vaccinations as the best weapon against the virus.

Children 12 and older are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, but vaccination rates remain low. At the same time, COVID hospitalizations among children and teens are rising.

The Iola Register talked to Dr. Andrew Schlachter, critical care physician and pulmonologist at Saint Luke's Health System, about the growing risks for children and teenagers as new variants of the coronavirus spread.
