U.S. News & World Report announced their 2022-2023 Best Hospital rankings. U.S. News ranks adult hospitals nationally and regionally based on their performance in both specific specialties, such as cardiology, and in certain common procedures and conditions, such as heart failure, hip fracture, and stroke.
Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City ranks No. 2 in Missouri, No. 2 in the Kansas City metro area. Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit is tied for No. 3 in the Kansas City metro and No. 8 in Missouri. Both are recognized among the Best Hospitals in northwestern Missouri.

U.S. News & World Report also closely evaluates and ranks specialized services. Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute’s Cardiology and Heart Surgery specialty was nationally ranked No. 22. This is the third consecutive year it has been ranked among the top 25 in the nation. Saint Luke's also ranks as No. 1 in Missouri and No. 1 in the Kansas City area.
“We take tremendous pride in again being recognized as providing the most comprehensive cardiovascular care in Kansas City” said Matthew Deedy, MD, Co-Medical Director of Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute. “Being continuously ranked among the top 25 heart programs in the nation is a significant honor and speaks to the skill, dedication, and commitment to excellence we strive to deliver every day to our patients.”
For the 2022-2023 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. In the 15 specialties, 164 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. State and metro area rankings reflect the highest performing hospitals in the area across multiple areas of care.
“When patients and their medical professionals are considering their options for care, the rankings are designed to help them identify hospitals that are superior in the kind of care they may need,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News.
