Saint Luke’s Recognized on U.S. News & World Report’s 2023 – 2024 Best Hospitals List
U.S. News & World Report announced their 2023 – 2024 Best Hospital rankings. U.S. News ranks adult hospitals nationally and regionally based on their performance in both specific specialties, such as cardiology, and in certain common procedures and conditions, such as heart failure, diabetes, and stroke.
Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City is ranked No. 3 in Missouri and No. 2 in the Kansas City metro area. Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit ranks No. 4 in the Kansas City metro and No. 10 in Missouri. Both are recognized among the Best Hospitals in northwestern Missouri.

U.S. News & World Report also closely evaluates and ranks specialized services. Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute’s Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery specialty was nationally ranked No. 47. Saint Luke’s is also ranked as No. 1 in Kansas City.
With nearly 100 board-certified heart experts in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and critical care anesthesia, Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute provides a comprehensive range of treatment options for advanced heart failure including transplantation, soon to be one of only 23 U.S. programs to perform 1,000 heart transplants, as well as mechanical circulatory support, interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging, preventive cardiology, and electrophysiology. Saint Luke’s heart experts use leading-edge research to advance cardiovascular medicine while continuously striving to improve outcomes and improve patients’ quality of life. In addition, Saint Luke’s launched the nation’s first Women’s Heart Center, the region’s leading Valve Center of Excellence, and offers the only comprehensive, multidisciplinary Vascular Center and Cardiometabolic Center in the Kansas City metro area.

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions; only 12% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals ranking. Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled in factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care, and patient experience.

- Heart attack
U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance using a variety of measures such as survival rates, complication rates, patient experience, and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals methodology factors in data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association, professional organizations, and medical specialists.
