Smart Garden for REACHN Program

Saint Luke’s has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Kansas City to deliver healthy foods and dietary education through the REACHN program at their Wyandotte County club.

REACHN is a 16-week lifestyle modification program addressing food insecurity, providing access to fresh foods, and educating members on improving their well-being through healthy behaviors.

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, recently provided funding to install a Smart Garden at the Boys & Girls Club Breidenthal Unit. The Smart Garden allows food to be grown indoors all year for the REACHN program and will also be used for cooking demonstrations. The Boys & Girls Club is an established and trusted community partner in the neighborhood, providing a safe location for teens and children.

Through the REACHN program, Saint Luke’s has worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs for the past four years, successfully delivering health and wellness programming to Club members. REACHN expands this partnership in new, exciting, and potentially life-changing ways.
