About David M. Safley

David Safley, MD, is co-medical director of the Imaging Core Lab, and he’s an associate professor at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine.

Dr. Safley grew up in Independence, Missouri. After graduating from the University of Missouri, he attended medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed an internal medicine residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and general and interventional cardiovascular fellowships at the Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute/University of Missouri–Kansas City.

During his training, Dr. Safley developed an interest in coronary and peripheral vascular disease research. He joined Saint Luke's Cardiovascular Consultants in 2006, and today continues to have a strong interest in cardiovascular research.

From 2014-2019, Dr. Safley was the medical director of quality for Saint Luke's Cardiovascular Consultants. In 2019, he started in a new role as the vice president of medical affairs for quality for Saint Luke's Health System.
