Substance Use Intensive Outpatient Program
Proven, evidence-based help for teens struggling with substance use, and support for their families.
Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City Crittenton Children's Center offers hope for families struggling with teen substance use. We believe building effective coping skills is essential to reducing substance use.
We use the evidence-based Hazelden Matrix Model for Teens and Young Adults to address physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of patients ages 12 to 20. Personalized treatment plans include up to 10 hours of weekly individual, family, and group counseling sessions that focus on:
- Treatment interventions that promote self-esteem, dignity, and self-worth
- Relapse-prevention strategies
- Recovery planning
- Adolescent substance education groups
The program also involves compliance testing and case management to engage support from school, court personnel, community mental health providers, support groups, and other individuals available to promote abstinence. Graduates of the program receive after-care services, including support groups, as well as one-on-one contact with the substance use counselor to support patients and their families.
