Nancy Long elected to transplant professional organization board

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb. 12, 2013) — Nancy Long, R.N., B.A., C.C.T.C., has been elected president of the Board of Governors of the American Board of Transplant Certification (ABTC). Her three-year term began in January 2013. Long is the director of cardiovascular operating room / transplant administrator at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City.

Founded in 1988, the ABTC is an independent, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to award a voluntary, non-governmental certification credentials to qualified transplant professionals who have successfully passed the certification examination representing a standard of competence. Certifications include clinical transplant coordinators, procurement coordinators, clinical transplant nurses, and preservationists.

Long has served on ABTC’s board for several years in various leadership roles. She joined Saint Luke’s Hospital in 1976 and worked as an operating room nurse and heart transplant coordinator prior to her current role.
