New Anderson County Hospital provides full array of out-patient specialty care services on-site
GARNETT, Kan. (December 8, 2014) — When the doors to the new Anderson County Hospital open on January 29, patients will experience true convenience in health care delivery. Our specialty clinic, located just inside the entrance of the hospital, will be home to 17 the region’s most respected and highly-trained specialists, ranging from audiology to podiatry and everything in between.
We’re expanding access to specialty care even further. Anderson County’s new “In-Touch” telecommunication technology allows out-of-town physicians to provide face-to-face care for patients right here in Garnett. This technology means patients can now consult with pulmonology and cardiology specialists.
The current list of specialists on staff at the new hospital includes highly trained cardiologists from Saint Luke’s Mid-America Heart Institute, neurologists from Saint Luke’s Marion Bloch Neuroscience Institute, an orthopedic surgeon and a general surgeon from Saint Luke’s South Hospital, and hard-to-find specialties in rheumatology and dermatology.
“We want to be sure the community knows these specialists will be available each month at the Anderson County Hospital Specialty Clinic,” said Meggan Newland, M.D. Dr. Newland provides dermatology services for patients at the specialty clinic. “Bringing Saint Luke’s world-class level of care here to Garnett on a regular basis is an invaluable benefit to our patients and those in need of specialty care,” she said.
Dr. Jeffrey Salin, an orthopedic surgeon at the new hospital, said, “We are truly excited to move into the new facility and expand our services for the community. As a surgeon, I appreciate the comprehensive scope of services available through Anderson, with a full-service lab and radiology department on-site, and the opportunity to follow my patients locally after procedures.”
Out-patient rehabilitation will be located off the main corridor of the new hospital. The new Rehab Center offers patients and families a variety of physical, occupational, and speech therapies. We’ve equipped our large gym with the latest rehabilitation equipment to help patients reach their maximum potential. Our outdoor rehabilitation area features different surfaces, steps, and a path so patients can learn to maneuver on all terrains, while a kitchenette and a bathroom model will help them manage better in their homes. The center will provide in-patient and out-patient services to ensure patients have consistency throughout their treatment plan.
Ryan Meyer, physical therapist and rehabilitation services manager, said, “Patients will have excellent opportunities to recover with the full array of services that we’re able to offer on-site. We are excited to continue caring for our patients with the convenience of one location. Our patients will appreciate the beautiful new setting and the seamless care that we will provide.”
