New Anderson County Hospital hosts ribbon cutting event

GARNETT, Kan. — Kansas Governor Sam Brownback is expected to join residents of the Anderson County community, local public officials, staff and volunteers at 10 am on Saturday, Jan. 17 for the official ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Anderson County Hospital. Following the ceremony, the hospital will be open until 2 p.m. for an open house and public tours. The hospital will officially open on Jan. 29.

“We are very excited to provide everyone with a glimpse into the future of health care for Anderson County,” Denny Hachenberg, Anderson County Hospital CEO, said. “The new facility will allow us to continue to bring the finest in health care to our communities for years to come. The project has been the work of countless hours for our team and the talented teams that partnered with us to ensure that Anderson County would have a well built modern health care facility.”

Along with Gov. Brownback, who will be returning to the hospital where he was born on Sept. 12, 1956, event speakers will include executives and leadership from Anderson County Hospital and Saint Luke’s Health System.

The schedule of speakers for the ribbon cutting ceremony will be as follows*:

10:00 a.m. – Welcome –Hachenberg
10:05 a.m. – Invocation – Ron Jones, Anderson County Hospital chaplain
10:10 a.m. – Kansas Governor Sam Brownback
10:15 a.m. – Bill Barnes, chairman of the Anderson County Hospital Board of Trustees
10:20 a.m. – Melinda Estes, M.D., president and CEO of Saint Luke’s Health System
10:30 a.m. – Official ribbon cutting photo opportunity

The event will be hosted by Saint Luke’s Health System and the Anderson County Hospital Board of Trustees.

Immediately following the ribbon cutting, all in attendance will be invited to enjoy a reception and tour the more than 70,000 square foot facility, which features the latest in design and technology innovations. The 12-bed hospital will also house the expanded and renamed Residential Living Center, a newly certified Level IV Trauma Center, and a full array of services available on-site including MRI, digital mammography, ultrasound, cardioscan, bone density tests, and more.
