Specimen Type:

ESwab collected from affected eye area

Collection Procedure:

1. Submit Eswab specimen collected from affected area by physician.
2. Place specimen in Eswab collection and transport tube.
3. Label tube with the patient's full name, date of birth, Identification number, date and time of collection, initials of person collecting the specimen and the specimen source.
4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
5. The specimen source is required on the request form for processing.

Test Includes:

This specimen source is not routinely cultured for anaerobes.

Reference Ranges:

No growth at 3 days.
If positive, clinically significant bacteria will have susceptibility testing performed.
