Saint Luke's Foundation's 2018 Foundation Fellow Award and Annual Recognition Luncheon
June 7, 2018 - Peggy and Michael Borkon, MD were honored with the Foundation Fellow Award at the Foundation Annual Recognition Luncheon, held June 7th at Grand Street Café. The Foundation Fellow Award recognizes individuals who have given time, expertise, and charitable support to advance research, education, and medical programs at Saint Luke’s.
Since arriving in Kansas City in the mid-1980s, the Borkons have been an integral part of the fabric that makes Saint Luke's Hospital. Through Dr. Borkon's pioneering work in the field of cardiovascular surgery and through Peggy's commitment to the medical staff and the Women of Saint Luke's, thousands of patients, physicians and their families have benefitted from the generosity of the Borkons.
In addition to honoring the Borkons for their dedication to the Saint Luke’s community, Tom Wagstaff, Chairman of the Saint Luke’s Foundation Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Saint Luke’s Health System Board of Directors, honored the newest members of the Heritage and Honor Societies. Heritage Society members have invested in the future success of Saint Luke’s Health System through their legacy gift in their will or other estate plans. Honor Society members have made cumulative gifts of $25,000 or more through the end of last year.
Following these remarks, Dr. Melinda Estes, CEO of Saint Luke’s Health System, and Mike VanDerhoef, CEO of Saint Luke’s Foundation and Senior Vice-President of Development, shared with guests the latest news from both the System and the Foundation.
