Clinical Scholars
Leaders from local engineering firm Burns & McDonnell recently presented $500,000 to Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute. The generous donation will fund two clinical scholar positions, awarded to Suzanne Arnold, MD, and Adam Salisbury, MD.
Saint Luke’s Clinical Scholars Program provides protected research time for physicians. In 2021-22, 18 physicians were selected as Clinical Scholars, receiving almost 1,000 days of research time, resulting in more than 300 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals. The program is led by Saint Luke’s physicians Mikhail Kosiborod, MD, and John Spertus, MD, two distinguished researchers who are regularly featured in conferences around the world.
The Burns & McDonnell Clinical Scholars, Drs. Arnold and Salisbury, will focus on cardiovascular quality of life and economic outcomes; quality of care of patients with cardiovascular diseases; and interventional cardiology.
The seeds they sow today enable us to provide the safest, most advanced, and effective treatment options for tomorrow.
