Allen County Regional Hospital to Update Its Integrated Electronic Medical Record System on October 1
IOLA, KS – On October 1, Allen County Regional Hospital is upgrading its electronic medical record (EMR) system to the Epic platform.
Moving to the Epic EMR will allow Allen County Regional Hospital and the primary care clinics in Iola and Humboldt to align patient health records, workflow and process, and billing with all other providers and clinicians associated with Saint Luke’s Health System, including specialists, home care, imaging, laboratory, and more.
“Moving to the Epic system will provide better security for our patients’ information and enable important health information sharing among a patient’s care providers, no matter where they receive care within the Saint Luke’s Health System,” said Steve Schieber, CEO of Saint Luke’s Critical Access Region. “This implementation is a major step forward for Allen County Regional Hospital. Aligning the EMR system with all other clinics and hospitals across the Saint Luke’s system will provide countless benefits and allow us to offer more services locally.”
The physicians and staff at Allen County Regional Hospital have been training on the new electronic medical record workflow and processes and are committed to using its tools to offer a better health care experience for their patients.
Clinicians across care settings will now have access to a patient’s health history and medical progress. They will be able to order and review tests and medications to ensure transparency and higher quality care. For better efficiency, patients will receive one consolidated bill for services received after October 1 at Allen County Regional Hospital or any other Saint Luke’s Health System facility.
Patients will have access to their health information, test results, billing, and pay online through the mySaintLukes patient portal, found at the Saint Luke’s website (saintlukeskc.org), or by downloading the mySaintLukes app for smart devices, which is available both in iOS and Android formats.
At a patient’s initial visit following the October 1 launch, they may need to provide some additional information, as our registration staff, physicians, and clinicians will update records and get up to speed during the transition. Staff will be available to answer questions that patients might have.
