Kansas City Star: COVID-19 Hospitalizations Are Climbing Fast in the KC Area. Is a New Wave Beginning?

COVID-19 patient numbers are on the rise at Kansas City area hospitals — and experts say that a new “wave” of the virus may be arriving in the metro.

While lower than past pandemic waves, these numbers are higher than the single-digit patient numbers seen earlier in the summer. And state level data shows that hospitalizations are on the rise in both Kansas and Missouri, including in all five counties in the Kansas City metro.

Saint Luke's Health System has had a slight uptick in COVID-19 hospitalizations and testing, similar to other hospitals in the metro.
