KCTV: Saint Luke's, UMKC Lead Nationwide Study to Help Combat Rising Maternal Mortality Rate

The maternal mortality rate, or the rate of pregnancy-related deaths, is rising in the U.S. Heart disease is the leading cause. 

Experts at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute and UMKC Healthcare Institute for Innovations in Quality are on a mission to help solve this crisis through a new nationwide study. 

KCTV talked to Dr. John Spertus, clinical director of outcomes research at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute and founder and director of the Healthcare Institute for Innovations in Quality, about the HOPE Study for Mom and Baby.
