Jesus Renteria recently fulfilled his long-time dream of opening a family restaurant in Kansas City.

But about a year-and-a-half ago, that dream nearly vanished.

Jesus ended up in the emergency room at Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City after developing a strange headache. He had blood on his brain and suffered a stroke at just 47 years old.

"A stroke is when the blood flow to one part of the brain gets stopped by any particular reason, most commonly because of a blockage very similar to a blockage we would have in our heart causing a heart attack," said Dr. Andrew Schlachter, a Saint Luke's neuro intensivist.

KSHB talked to Dr. Schlachter about how the stroke team quickly went into action to get Jesus back to his passion.
