Community Collaborations
Saint Luke’s collaborates with trusted, well-known community organizations to improve the health and well-being of Kansas City communities and beyond.
We work with a wide variety of organizations focused on improving the Social Drivers of Health, including housing, access to food, transportation, social connections, and neighborhood safety. We have increasingly recognized that these factors contribute significantly to our patients’ health outcomes and can be roadblocks to health equity.
By collaborating with community organizations, we can help our patients better navigate the social care system and in turn have better health outcomes.
Current community collaborators include:
- Bishop Sullivan Center
- Community Assistance Council
- Community Services League
- Harvesters Community Food Network
- Kanbe’s Markets
- KC Shepherd Center
- Metro Lutheran Ministries
- Northland Health Care Access
- Northland Shepherd Center
Social Impact Day
In addition, the Saint Luke’s Social Impact Initiative provides opportunities for employees to volunteer with the charitable and social welfare organizations that also serve our communities. Each employee is given a Social Impact Day, a paid holiday, where they can volunteer or otherwise serve our community. That means, we're giving 12,000 days to our community!
Working with Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City
Since 2015, Saint Luke's has partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City to identify, prioritize, and address the collective needs and issues of our urban community regarding health equity. As a result, we have created programming to emphasize healthy lifestyles and career exploration, including:
- Nike Sports Camp and summer basketball tournament
- Project Power
- REACHN
- Saint Luke’s speaker programming on health care opportunities
- School supplies drive
- Sports L.A.B. (Lifestyle, Attitude, and Behavior) Program
- Vision Screenings (in partnership with Lions Club)
