Amino Acids Quantitative, Plasma
EPIC Test Procedure Code: LAB3637
Performing Lab:
Referral Laboratory
Container Type:
Green top (sodium heparin) tube or lavender-top (EDTA) tube
Specimen Type:
Plasma
Preferred Volume:
0.5 mL
Alternate Specimens:
Frozen serum from SST or red-top tube will NOT be rejected, frozen plasma from a green top (lithium heparin) tube is acceptable.
Minimum Volume:
0.15 mL
Specimen Processing:
1. Separate the plasma from the cells.
2. Transfer the specimen to a plastic transport tube.
3. Freeze immediately.
4. To avoid delays in turn around time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, submit separate frozen samples for each test requested.
Store and Transport:
Frozen
Stability:
Frozen - 14 days
Refrigerated - unstable
Room temperature - unstable
Unacceptable Condition:
Specimens that are grossly hemolyzed, at room temperature or thawed.
