APL II
Antiphospholipid Antibody Profile II
EPIC Test Procedure Code: LAB2806
Serum and sodium citrate plasma are required for this test.
1. For serum specimens, label the tube appropriately (serum for beta-2 glycoprotein 1 antibodies, IgG and IgM and cardiolipin antibodies, IgG and IgM.)
2. For plasma specimens, centrifuge specimen in a centrifuge validated to ensure platelet poor plasma.
3. Immediately transfer the plasma to a stoppered, plastic tube and centrifuge again for 10 minutes.
4. Transfer the supernatant plasma into 3 screw-capped, plastic vials (each containing 1 mL) and send frozen at ≤ -20 °C, if possible.
5. If unable to centrifuge sodium citrate tube, forward unprocessed sodium citrate whole blood (minimum volume: 3 mL) to the laboratory promptly at room temperature only.
6. Label the specimens appropriately.
The unspun specimen must arrive within 2 hours of collection.
