The patient should be fasting.

Serum (preferred) or plasma

0.3 mL
Specimen Processing:
1. The serum or plasma must be separated from the cells within 2 hours of collection.
2. Transfer the serum or plasma to a plastic transport tube before freezing.
3. To avoid delays in turn around time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, submit separate frozen specimens for each test requested.
