Collection Procedure:
1. Collect the blood and incubate (warm) the tube in a 37 ºC (98.6 º F) water bath for one hour. (If unable to incubate (warm) tube at 37 ºC (98.6 º F), forward the unprocessed whole blood to laboratory promptly at room temperature.)
2. After 1 hr incubation, centrifuge at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes. Do not use a refrigerated centrifuge.
3. Immediately transfer the serum to a stoppered, plastic tube and centrifuge again at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes.
4. Transfer the serum into 2 screw-capped, plastic vials. Keep at room temperature.

Unspun specimens must arrive within 2 hours of collection.
Unacceptable Condition:
Serum gel tubes are not acceptable.
