Collection Procedure:
1. Draw 1 Mycolytic Bactec bottle of whole blood.
2. Label the tube with the patient's full name, date of birth, identification number, date and time of draw, initials of the person drawing the specimen, and the specimen source.
3. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
4. The specimen source is required on the request form for processing.
Stability:
The specimen must arrive within 6 hours of collection.

Reference Ranges:
No fungal growth at 28 - 42 days.
If positive, fungus will be identified.
