Specimen Processing:
1. Within 24 hours of collection, EDTA whole blood or serum gel tube must be received at SLH Lab.
OR
2. Centrifuge specimen for 10 minutes at 4500 rpm:
- - Remove plasma or serum from cells and aseptically place the EDTA plasma or serum in a screw-capped, sterile, plastic vial.
- - Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
- Indicate plasma or serum on the request form and label the specimen appropriately (plasma or serum).
Store and Transport:
EDTA whole blood or serum gel tube - room temperature or refrigerated
Plasma or serum - refrigerated or frozen
Plasma or serum - refrigerated or frozen
