Specimen Type:
Mycobacterium avium complex isolated from a primary clinical specimen, on a submitted AFB conventional solid medium, or an AFB broth medium. (Please note: Mycobacterium chimaera intracellulare group is part of the MAC complex.)
Preferred Volume:
Pure culture isolate on an AFB conventional solid medium or a minimum of 1 mL of AFB broth medium
Store and Transport:
Room temperature
Unacceptable Condition:
Mixed culture specimens, samples received in expired media, or leaking or broken transport tubes or vials will be rejected.
