Collection Procedure:

1. The specimen should be placed on ice immediately and centrifuged without delay.
2. If unable to run specimen within 30 minutes of centrifugation, separate plasma and place into a plastic vial.
3. Refrigerate if delivered to testing laboratory within 2 hours, freeze for longer transport up to 24 hours.

Store and Transport:
Refrigerate plasma if delivered within 2 hours, freeze if transport will take more than 2 hours. Frozen sample is good up to 24 hours.
Stability:

Frozen plasma - 24 hours
Plasma on ice - up to 2 hours
Green top on ice - 15 minutes
