P2Y12 Response Assay

EPIC Test Procedure Code: LAB2319

Performing Lab:

Patient Preparation:

Confirm that the patient has not received Eptifibatide (Integrillin®) for up to 48 hours or Abcixmab (ReoPro®) for up to 14 days prior to the specimen collection.

Container Type:
Two Greiner Bio-One 2 mL light blue top (sodium citrate) tubes and one white top (no additive) tube
Specimen Type:

Whole blood

Preferred Volume:
2 mL
Collection Procedure:

Refer to Blue Top Tube (3.2% Sodium Citrate) Collection Instructions

1. TEST SHOULD BE ORDERED STAT. 
2. Perform phlebotomy using a 21 gauge needle.  
3. Draw one white top (no additive) tube, followed by two, 2 mL Greiner Bio-One sodium citrate tubes. Mix by inversion at least 5 times. Label the blue tops 1 & 2 in order of draw. Submit all tubes. 
4. Do not centrifuge tubes. 
5. Specimens cannot be transported by a pneumatic tube system. 
6. Tubes must be kept at room temperature. 
7. The specimens should arrive within 2 hours of collection and testing must be completed within 4 hours of collection. (If specimen is received > 2 hrs from collection time, consult with Hematology as to whether testing can still be completed within 4 hours of collection.)

Unacceptable Condition:

REJECTION CRITERIA - ONLY 2 ML SODIUM CITRATE (BLUE TOP) GREINER TUBES ARE ACCEPTABLE.  ALL OTHER BLUE TOP TUBES WILL BE REJECTED.
