Required Patient Info:

1. A reason for testing should be submitted with each specimen. 

2. A pathology and/or flow cytometry report may be requested by the laboratory to optimize testing and aid in interpretation of results.

Green top (sodium heparin) tube OR Yellow (ACD) OR Lavender (EDTA)
Specimen Type:

Whole blood or bone marrow

Preferred Volume:
Bone marrow: 2-3 mL
Blood: 6 mL
Minimum Volume:
Bone marrow: 1 mL
Blood: 2 mL
Collection Procedure:

1. It is preferable to send the first aspirate from the bone marrow collection.

2. Invert several times to mix bone marrow.

3. Send bone marrow in original tube. Do not aliquot.

Store and Transport:
Room temperature (preferred)
Refrigerated (acceptable)
Unacceptable Condition:

All specimens will be evaluated at Mayo Clinic Laboratories for test suitability. 

(Core biopsy from dry tap can be sent in RPMI; RPMI diluted FLOW sample can be sent.)
