Patient Preparation:
1. Patients should fast for 10 hours prior to specimen collection.
2. No radioisotopes should be administered during the 24 hours prior to specimen collection.

0.5 mL
Minimum Volume:
0.3 mL
Specimen Processing:
1. Transfer the serum into a plastic transport tube with screw cap.
2. Freeze the specimen immediately (must be frozen within four hours of collection) and maintain frozen until tested.
3. To avoid delays in turn around time when requesting multiple tests on frozen samples, submit separate samples for each test requested.
Store and Transport:

Unacceptable Condition:
Specimens received at the testing laboratory that are not frozen and non-serum samples will be rejected.
