FEMALE
1. Submit cervical or vaginal specimen collected by a health care professional using a sterile eSwab.
2. Place specimen in eSwab collection and transport tube.
3. Label tube with patient's full name, date of birth, identification number, date and time of collection, initials of person collecting specimen and specimen source.
4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at room temperature only. NOTE: Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
MALE
1. Submit urethral or penis specimen collected by a health care professional using a sterile eSwab.
2. Place specimen in eSwab collection and transport tube.
3. Label tube with patient's full name, date of birth, identification number, date and time of collection, initials of person collecting specimen and specimen source.
4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at room temperature only. NOTE: Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
87070 - Culure, aerobic
87077 - Aerobic identification (if appropriate)
87184 - Susceptibility studies, disk method (if appropriate)
87186 - Susceptibility studies, microdilution or agar dilution (if appropriate)
Female
No Neisseria gonorrhoeae or beta-strep isolated and/or normal vaginal flora isolated. If positive, no routine sensitivities will be performed unless requested.
Male
No growth at 3 days. If positive, clinically significant bacteria will have susceptibility testing performed.
