KSHB: Woman Says Heart Monitoring Device Used by Cardiologists at Saint Luke's Saved Her Life
A Lee's Summit woman says a heart monitor device which sends information directly to her doctor saved her life.
Linda Lamson had Atrial Fibrillation, or AFib. This is an irregular heartbeat which can lead to strokes and heart attacks.
Linda uses her Kardia AliveCor device every day to do a quick EKG of her heart. Last year, she used her device when she was not feeling right in a restaurant, and it alerted her that she was in AFib and needed to seek medical attention.
Saint Luke's was the first hospital in the area to sync the mobile device to its cardiologists.
"Without having this technology, we would be having to have her come into the office more often, or we'd have to send her monitors, which Linda mentioned earlier is actually quite expensive," said Dr. Sanjaya Gupta, Linda's cardiologist at Saint Luke's.
