KSHB: Colorectal cancer increasing among Americans under 50
Doctors across the country warn they are seeing an increased number of colorectal cancer cases in people under the age of 50.
Now, the American Cancer Society recommends adults with an average risk for developing the cancer get a screening sooner at age 45.
"It's a little bit alarming because we used to tell people age 50 and on is when you get a colonoscopy," said Dr. Addison Tolentino, an oncologist with Saint Luke's Cancer Institute.
KSHB talked to Dr. Tolentino and a patient who was recently diagnosed who says people need to listen to their bodies.
