KMBC: Hospitals admitting more patients during current wave of COVID-19
Hospital staffs in the Kansas City metro area are handling yet another spike in COVID-19 admissions after the Thanksgiving holiday and right before Christmas.
The increase in cases comes as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday predicted the omicron variant is spreading in both Kansas and Missouri, accounting for roughly 30% of cases.
KMBC talked to Dr. Marc Larsen, an emergency medicine physician at Saint Luke's Health System, about the strain on local health systems and how the large majority of hospitalized patients remain unvaccinated.
