Pulmonary Valve Disease
Although the pulmonic valve is the least common valve to need intervention in adults, it is the most common valve to require intervention in adults born with congenital heart disease.
Pulmonary valve disease can involve stenosis (narrowing) or regurgitation (leaking), and can be related to complex congenital heart diseases. This valve is located on the right side of the heart and routes blood to the lungs. In pulmonary valve regurgitation, the blood does not get pumped to the lungs effectively and backs up in the right side of the heart.
Since the inception of the pulmonary valve replacement program, the interventional and surgical options available to patients have continued to expand at a remarkable pace
