Tricuspid Valve Disease
Tricuspid valve disease is caused by regurgitation (leaking). The heart must work harder to send blood to the lungs and the rest of the body because the tricuspid valve between the two right heart chambers (right ventricle and right atrium) doesn't work properly.
Historically, the tricuspid valve was called the 'forgotten' valve because few centers operated on patients solely for tricuspid regurgitation. The valve team at Saint Luke’s participated in the TRISCEND II trial which led to FDA approval of a tricuspid valve replacement using the EVOQUE® valve. Saint Luke's was the first in the region to offer this treatment option and continue to be leaders in tricuspid valve disease treatment.
Saint Luke’s Valve Team specializes in treating complicated tricuspid valve disease either through repair or replacement of the valve.
