KMBC: 'Best Three Hours of My Week': Volunteers Cuddle with NICU Babies at Saint Luke's Hospital
A Saint Luke's Bishop Spencer Place resident, Bob McElwain, finds purpose and joy in spending hours each week cuddling newborns in need.
He's part of the "Cuddler Program" at Saint Luke's Hospital that pairs dedicated volunteers with NICU babies, bringing comfort and care to the little ones during their crucial early days.
KMBC talked to Bob and Tiffany Wells, a clinical resource nurse who helps train the cuddler volunteers.
For anyone who is interested, the Cuddler program currently has a few openings at Saint Luke's Hospital on the early morning shift (5-8 a.m.) and the late evening shift (5-9 p.m.). Find more information on volunteering at Saint Luke's or email slhsvolunteer@saintlukeskc.org.
