KCTV: NICU Celebrates Mother's Day Early with Kangaroo Care
Mother's Day is a special day to celebrate and recognize the mothers in our lives. This year, some new moms celebrated a little differently than they might have planned...in the NICU.
Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City has been providing maternity care to mothers and babies in the community for 135 years. This week mothers and new babies in Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City NICU celebrated Mother's Day with intimate and beneficial skin-to-skin kangaroo care. Kangaroo Care, also called skin-to-skin care, is when a diapered baby is held against the bare chest for special bonding and is recommended by the March of Dimes and health experts worldwide.
Faces You Love Photography, a volunteer photographer from with the March of Dimes, helped make the day extra special by capturing these special moments and gifted them to help these moms remember their Mother's Day.
