KSHB: 'She's A Miracle': Saint Luke's Youngest Surviving NICU Baby Heads to 2nd Grade

Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City’s NICU's ELGAN (Extremely Low Gestational Age Newborn) program started in 2017 and offers families options for treatment of the earliest preemies, less than 24 weeks. Based on research and leading-edge technology, we provide families with the information they need to make an informed decision about their baby’s care.

Ellie is Saint Luke’s youngest surviving NICU baby. She was born prematurely on June 27, 2017, at just 21 weeks and six days. The care she and her mom received through Saint Luke's ELGAN program helped Ellie fight to be where she is today.

Ellie, her mother, Robin, and NICU nurse Mindy spoke with KSHB about Ellie's journey and how the ELGAN program is important in helping families of premature babies.
