KSHB: Local Artist and Colon Cancer Survivor Shares Her Story

Colon cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer deaths in America, but more than half of all colorectal cancer deaths can be prevented with regular screenings.

Johanne Blackburn, a local artist whose studio is on her Missouri farm, is a stage 3 colon cancer survivor sharing her story in hopes of inspiring others to make screenings a priority.

KSHB talked to Blackburn and Dr. Todd Moore, surgeon at Saint Luke's Health System, about the life-saving impact of screenings and when you should start.
